MSDN Article: Internationalizing ASP.NET AJAX

My first MSDN Magazine article entitled "Around the World with ASP.NET AJAX Applications" has been published in the January 2008 issue. The article is all about how to localize and globalize ASP.NET AJAX applications. The article also explains how the assembly-based localization model works and you can download the Script Resource Viewer utility that I wrote to diagnose this behavior here. You can also download the slides that accompany the presentation I have given on Internationalizing ASP.NET AJAX here.

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the common on my blog.

I actually read this article recently. It was excellent! Interesting coincidence that I happened to have just read it and you happened to have left a note on my blog.

I’m actually working on a book with A&W right now too. Advanced ASP.NET AJAX Server Controls for .NET 3.5. As the title suggests it focuses on control development and included in it is a chapter on localization/internationalization. It covers a lot of the same topics as your article does, but you dive deeper into the URL creation and some other stuff.

It’s available on Rough Cuts if you have an account from when you published your book.

Congratulations Guy.

Nice article, interesting and readable even where the subject is not immediately relevant to the reader - I would expect no less from you.

Becoming a ’proper’ author now!

Thanks, Joel. Yes, I read about your book and it is a very worthy subject and well worth a whole book. I hope to take a look at it. Good luck with it.

Guy

BTW the Script Resource Viewer utility that I mentioned is described at www.guysmithferrier.com/details.aspx?Entry=143.
