Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Beta 1

Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Beta 1 is now available. To get it go to the Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Beta Registration page and fill out the nomination survey. After a short wait you are granted access to download the Service Pack. I have heard that this fixes some problems when running Visual Studio 2005 on Windows Vista but as I haven’t encountered any problems with this yet I can’t say if it does fix them. One change that the patch makes is that when Visual Studio 2005 starts up on Vista it shows a warning stating that some tasks require administrator privileges. You are given the opportunity to continue or quit (and then retry using "Run as administrator").

I think it is probably fair to say that SP1 is not exactly fast to install. You can find more information about SP1 on Heath Stewart’s blog http://blogs.msdn.com/heaths/archive/tags/VS+2005+SP1/default.aspx" target="new">here.
